Japanese Anime 'Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba' Starts at Box Office No. 1
Lim Young-woong 'I'm Hero The Final' Ranks 3rd
The Japanese animated film 'Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc' opened at number one at the box office.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticketing system on the 3rd, 'Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc,' which was released on the 2nd, attracted 64,955 viewers and ranked first at the box office.
The film drew attention with the theatrical advance screening of episodes 10 and 11 of the second season of the 'Demon Slayer' TV anime series, 'Entertainment District Arc,' and episode 1 of the 'Swordsmith Village Arc.' It depicts the intense battle between Tanjiro and his comrades, including the drinking Uzui Tengen, against Upper Rank Six Daki and Gyutaro, iconic scenes from episodes 10 and 11 of the 'Entertainment District Arc.'
Previously, 'Demon Slayer: Mugen Train' (2021), released during the COVID-19 pandemic, also gained popularity domestically with a cumulative audience of over 2.15 million.
'Confidential Assignment' starring Jo Jin-woong and Lee Sung-min (directed by Lee Won-tae) drew 47,051 viewers and ranked second, while singer Lim Young-woong's concert film 'I'm Hero The Final' attracted 16,873 viewers, placing third.
Fourth place went to 'The First Slam Dunk,' fifth to 'Search 2,' sixth to 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,' and seventh to 'Count.'
