Professor Jang Kyung-soon of Silla University Appointed as President of the Literature and Environmental Studies Association
Professor Jang Kyung-soon of the Department of English Education at Silla University has been inaugurated as the 15th president of the Society for Literature and Environment. The term of office is until December 2024.
The Society for Literature and Environment is a nationwide academic organization that conducts scholarly research activities on literature and the environment as a whole, promoting interdisciplinary research encompassing Korean literature, English literature, and other language literatures.
Following the American Society for Literature and Environment (ASLE) established in 1992, the Korean Society for Literature and Environment (ASLE, Korea) was founded in 2001.

The Korean Society for Literature and Environment holds domestic academic conferences twice a year and hosts international conferences biennially in collaboration with the Japanese Society for Literature and Environment (ASLE, Japan) and the Taiwanese Society for Literature and Environment (ASLE, Taiwan). It also publishes the journal Literature and Environment four times a year.
Professor Jang, newly appointed as president, stated, “I will continue the distinctive academic tradition and heritage of the Society for Literature and Environment. Given that various environmental issues today directly and indirectly affect our lives, I believe the role of the society is more important than ever, and I will strive to address these issues academically.”
