"If You're Ashamed, Drop Out" Seoul National University Student in School Violence Controversy 'Boiling Mad'
Aftermath of Lawyer Jeong Soon-shin Incident... Community Outrage
Flood of Protest Calls to Admissions Office for Failing to Prevent School Violence
Jeong Soon-shin, a lawyer newly appointed as the head of the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency, has faced backlash at Seoul National University, where his son is reportedly enrolled, due to past school violence issues involving his child that led to Jeong's withdrawal from a previous position. Some have expressed strong anger, even suggesting that expulsion should be considered.
On the 27th, according to Seoul National University's online communities SNU Life and Everytime, posts criticizing Jeong's son over the school violence controversy have been continuously appearing.

On these communities, protest posts such as "I hope you suffer the same fate, no more, no less," "I hope that label follows you until you die," "Don't hold on, leave with a clear conscience," "If you're ashamed, drop out," and "Let's make a clear statement and even protest or demonstrate" have flooded in.
A Seoul National University student wrote, "I know another student who had a school violence committee meeting in high school and entered Seoul National University, but they are living their department life as if nothing happened," adding, "Alumni from the same high school are all secretly waiting for their turn without realizing it."
Additionally, many criticized Jeong for his actions, saying, "Even after being forced to transfer, the child was able to continue attending school through an administrative lawsuit. The parents persistently filed lawsuits."
A poster criticizing Jeong's son was also posted on campus. According to reports from OhmyNews and Kukmin Ilbo, on the afternoon of the 27th, a poster criticizing Jeong was posted on the bulletin board of the Central Library at Seoul National University.
The poster's author, who introduced themselves as a member of the College of Human Ecology, class of 2022, stated, "Jeong Soon-shin's son was a serious school violence perpetrator in high school, to the extent that the victim attempted extreme measures," and criticized, "He is currently enrolled at Seoul National University and fully deserves to be listed among the shameful alumni alongside Yoon Seok-yeol and Jeong Soon-shin."

The author continued, "Yoon Seok-yeol, the hypocritical, selective, prosecutor dictatorship, is no longer qualified as president," and demanded, "Impeach Yoon Seok-yeol, who appointed the head of the National Investigation Headquarters who is a parent of a school violence perpetrator, representing unfairness and irrationality."
They also pointed out, "Jeong Soon-shin's son was a serious school violence perpetrator in high school, to the extent that the victim attempted suicide," and criticized, "President Yoon seems to think school violence is not even a problem." Some voices are calling for the school to discipline Jeong's son.

Meanwhile, unlike the victim who could not properly continue their studies due to school violence, public outrage has also been sparked by the fact that Jeong's son was admitted through the regular admission process, which does not heavily reflect school violence records. It is reported that the Seoul National University Admissions Office, where Jeong's son is enrolled, has been receiving a flood of external protest calls related to this incident.
