Implementation of Life Safety Services Utilizing the Internet of Things

On the 24th, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced that it held a briefing session on the advanced CCTV control center system at the Gurye-gun CCTV Control Center for more than 50 public officials in charge of CCTV control and disaster management from various cities and counties.

The briefing session proceeded with explanations and demonstrations on the smart city integrated platform through a public project, installation of smart warning and alert facilities for each household, urban regeneration smart safe streets, and the establishment of an early warning system for steep slopes.

Using Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, and big data technologies, services such as emergency calls for each household, fire detection, and emergency assistance for vulnerable traffic users (electric vehicles) respond promptly by closely cooperating with related organizations such as 112 and 119 control rooms and military units when abnormal situations occur.

The county is implementing a disaster safety management system based on a digital platform and is expanding policies to create a safe environment for vulnerable groups such as children and to strengthen pedestrian safety management, thereby establishing a dense living safety network.

In addition to constant preparedness for safety accidents, the goal is to shift to a disaster safety system that predicts new risks and operates quickly and efficiently on-site when accidents occur.

County Governor Kim Sun-ho said, “As the CCTV control center plays a key role in smart city operations, we expect that many local governments will benchmark the Gurye-gun control center’s advanced system, which will serve as an opportunity to raise the safety level of the public to a higher level.”
