Approval of the Textbook Recognized as 'Cultural Heritage and Future' Developed by the Cultural Heritage Administration
Available for Use in All Schools Starting March
The Cultural Heritage Administration's textbook, developed over the past two years to support youth cultural heritage education, will be used starting in March. It is titled "Cultural Heritage and the Future" for high school students and was developed in collaboration with the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation. On the 28th, the Cultural Heritage Administration announced that it had been approved as a recognized textbook by the Superintendent of Education of Chungcheongnam-do. A recognized textbook refers to one approved by the Minister of Education for use when there is no national or certified textbook available, or when it is difficult to use those or when supplementation is necessary.
To create a field-customized textbook, the Cultural Heritage Administration participated in the 2020 "Government Ministry Collaborative Textbook Development Project." Seven experts, including teachers from Buyeo High School in Chungnam, a collaborating school, took part in the production, followed by additional review and consultation. The content is divided into three units: "Understanding Cultural Heritage," "Traveling Our Cultural Heritage," and "Utilization and Future of Cultural Heritage." It includes basic knowledge such as the concept and classification of cultural heritage and excavation, as well as information on utilization cases and related career fields.
