The training simulated a scenario where oil loaded on an oil tanker was spilled into the sea.
The Seogwipo Coast Guard’s oil spill response vessel installed 200 meters of oil fence to prevent the spread of pollutants and to contain them within the oil fence.
The main training contents included ▲inspection and operational capability development of pollution control materials and equipment (oil fence, oil recovery device) ▲initial situation assessment and immediate response to marine accidents ▲familiarization with the duties of pollution control personnel.
A Seogwipo Coast Guard official stated, “The oil spill response vessels in operation undergo regular technical training to respond swiftly in case of pollution accidents and to strengthen accident response capabilities. We will do our best to preserve the clean waters of Seogwipo.”
