New Agreement at Gumi Defense Venture Center, Successful Model for Civil-Military Cooperation Projects
Increase in Venture Center Partner Companies from 58 to 63
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Gumi City and Gumi Defense Venture Center signed a defense technology support agreement with five newly contracted companies at 11 a.m. on the 22nd in the main conference room of the Gumi Defense Venture Center.
The newly contracted companies ▲Woosung Hightech (CEO Jo Hyuncheol) and ▲Seah KGPI (CEO Park Byungseok) possess material technologies such as engineering plastics applicable to guided weapons, ▲NS Lab (CEO Kim Dongseong) has open metaverse and blockchain technologies dedicated to military use, and ▲Duratech (CEO Lee Hangoo) and ▲Jun INT (CEO Kim Junhyun) mainly produce military electronic communication-related products.
The event proceeded with the signing of agreements with the newly contracted companies and an introduction to the support projects of the Gumi Defense Venture Center.
Yoon Seonghyun, head of the Gumi Defense Venture Center, stated, “The Gumi Defense Venture Project is evaluated as a successful model of civil-military cooperation projects where the central government and local governments collaborate to foster small and venture companies.”
Ji Youngmok, Director of the City Economic and Industrial Bureau, said, “We hope that the excellent technologies possessed by companies in the Gumi area will be applied to defense research and development, increasing sales of local companies and creating many new jobs.”

With this agreement, the number of contracted companies at the Gumi Defense Venture Center increased from 58 to 63. As of the end of 2022, the number of defense personnel at the contracted companies of the Gumi Defense Venture Center reached 826, and defense-related sales amounted to 341.8 billion KRW.
