The current Building Act was amended in February last year, requiring construction contractors to supply and use only materials that have received quality certification according to the law. However, due to a lack of awareness about the system, cases of using inappropriate materials still frequently occur.
Accordingly, Yongin City plans to distribute a self-produced manual titled "Technical Support Guide for Fire Safety Construction Quality Management of Buildings" at construction sites to inform about the amended law and its enforcement system.
Following this, the city will visit sites to closely monitor whether construction materials are being properly installed.
The inspection targets are large construction sites with a total floor area of 10,000㎡ or more, factories and warehouses with a total floor area of 3,000㎡ or more, and construction sites using composite materials.
The city will meticulously check whether fire prevention equipment such as fire doors, fire shutters, and fire dampers have quality certification and whether composite panels and insulation materials are properly installed at these sites.
If any site is found to have installed non-compliant materials, reinstallation will be required, and technical support will be provided to constructors and supervisors to ensure compliance with the quality certification system.
