Discussion on Dispatching Second Team on 15th to Address Earthquake Damage in Turkey
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold a public-private joint overseas emergency relief council meeting chaired by Minister Park Jin on the 15th to discuss the dispatch of the second Korean Disaster Relief Team (KDRT) to assist with the earthquake damage recovery in Turkey.
On the 8th, the first KDRT, consisting of a total of 118 members including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Fire Agency, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and military personnel, was dispatched and is currently conducting rescue operations. The relief team has so far rescued 8 survivors and recovered 19 bodies. The operation period is until the 17th.

On the 14th, Im Soo-seok, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated at a regular briefing, "We plan to hold a council meeting to discuss additional support for relief supplies and specific details regarding the dispatch of the second relief team for future relief and reconstruction projects."
The first relief team was specialized in search and rescue. The second relief team will be composed of personnel specialized in supporting relief supplies and preparing for relief and reconstruction projects. A Ministry of Foreign Affairs official said, "Details about the size and main tasks of the second relief team will be explained according to the council meeting procedures tomorrow," adding, "The main operational tasks of the second team will differ from those of the first team."
