Target Completion in the Second Half of 2025
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] German multinational company Sartorius, specializing in raw materials and equipment for biopharmaceuticals, has begun construction of production and research facilities in Songdo International City, Incheon.
According to the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority on the 14th, Sartorius Korea Operations, the Korean subsidiary of Sartorius, started construction of a biopharmaceutical core raw material production facility and related process research facilities on an industrial site of 24,000㎡ in Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu. The completion is scheduled for the second half of 2025.
This facility will produce single-use bags (disposable containers for culturing cells and viruses), cell culture media (liquid substances required by cultures to grow cells), and pharmaceutical filters (filters that remove impurities and harmful bacteria from medicines), and will be developed as a hub for global exports.
Additionally, research and development in biopharmaceutical process fields and educational projects will be promoted, contributing to domestic technology transfer and the co-growth of related industries.
