Gwangju Seo-gu Council Embarks on Full-Scale Field-Centered Legislative Activities
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Social and Urban Committee of the Seo-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City recently visited the Sangmu National Sports Center, scheduled to open next month, during the 309th extraordinary session to hear about the construction progress and inspect the facilities, the committee announced on the 9th.
Im Seong-hwa, a member of the Social and Urban Committee and vice-chairperson, who inspected the facilities, said, “The distribution box (inspection hatch) for the handrail equipment required for BF certification is not openable, making rapid electronic control impossible in emergencies,” adding, “It is regrettable that this was not reflected in the design phase, but since it was confirmed during the site inspection, appropriate measures should be taken to prepare for accidents.”
O Mi-seop, who also inspected the site, pointed out, “In the current construction state of the first-floor swimming pool massage pool and warm-up pool, use by disabled and elderly users is impossible,” and requested, “Please reinstall handrails and install gentle stairs considering users with physical difficulties.”
The Sangmu National Sports Center, located at 101 Sangmu Gongwon-ro, was constructed with a budget of 11 billion KRW and features a swimming pool, fitness center, GX room, and multipurpose gymnasium spanning from the basement first floor to the third floor above ground, with a total floor area of 960 pyeong. It was completed in November last year and is scheduled to open next month.
Meanwhile, the Seo-gu Council of Gwangju is being evaluated as having officially started its field-oriented legislative activities emphasized during the 9th council by unusually promoting on-site visits during this extraordinary session.
