Jeonnam Fire Department Hosts 'Children's Fire Science and Technology Competition'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Kim Joil) announced on the 8th that it held the Winter Children’s Fire Science and Technology Contest.
This contest was hosted by Jeonnam Fire Headquarters and sponsored by Jeonnam Office of Education and Fire Safety Institute. About 4,200 elementary school students from grades 3 to 5 across the province participated.
Through a mobile quiz app, children learned everyday safety knowledge such as fire and first aid in a fun quiz format, aiming to contribute to the spread of safety culture among children.
About 8,700 people, including elementary students and firefighters in the province, watched their friends’ contest in real time via the quiz app and Jeonnam Fire YouTube channel, solved problems together, and received small prizes through a raffle.
Among the students who participated in the contest that day, those with excellent scores were awarded six Jeonnam Governor’s Awards and city prizes.
The grand prize went to Kim Seungju of Imja Elementary School in Sinan, the highest award went to Jeong Hyunseok of Samseo Elementary School in Jangseong and Moon Jaein of Chillyang Elementary School in Gangjin, Ham Somyeong of Haengbok Elementary School in Muan received the excellence award, and the merit award went to Kim Nayeon of Samho Jungang Elementary School in Yeongam and Kang Hyewon of Jindo Elementary School in Jindo.
Kim Seungju, who won the grand prize that day, said, “I studied hard during the vacation and felt proud to learn a lot of safety knowledge, and I am happy to have achieved good results in the contest.”
