CTK Signs Biodegradable Plastic Supply Agreement with US Eco-Friendly Company NLC
Application of New Materials to NLC Palette Packaging and Dry Ice Packaging
Completed Testing of Biodegradable Plastic 'Eolseu Edition' and Started Mass Production
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] CTK Bio Canada, a subsidiary of CTK, has signed a supply contract for biodegradable plastic materials with US-based NLC Energy.
According to CTK on the 8th, NLC Energy plans to replace the plastic film packaging used for pallets when loading products with biodegradable eco-friendly packaging produced by CTK Bio Canada.
NLC Energy is an eco-friendly energy company in the US that recycles food and agricultural organic waste into energy sources such as natural gas, dry ice, and liquid carbon dioxide.
CTK Bio Canada also plans to replace the packaging materials for products such as dry ice produced by NLC Energy with biodegradable plastic materials within this year.
Accordingly, CTK Bio Canada has started mass production of the new material "Earth Edition," which completely decomposes in the natural environment, tailored to the specifications of NLC pallet packaging. CTK Bio Canada's Earth Edition is a next-generation biodegradable plastic that decomposes on its own when buried in soil or discarded in the ocean.
JK Park, CEO of CTK Bio Canada, said, "New materials such as Earth Edition are gaining attention as alternatives to conventional plastics that do not decompose and 'PLA,' which is gradually being excluded from the industry due to limited biodegradation conditions," adding, "We are negotiating partnerships and supply contracts with various companies."
Meanwhile, last month, CTK Bio Canada also signed a partnership with Star Group, Canada’s largest fresh food company, to produce eco-friendly food packaging materials.
