[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] To resolve the conflict phase between Goyang City and the City Council, which are in opposition, the Goyang City Public Officials' Union and the City Council sat down together.
The Goyang City Council promised mutual respect to the city public officials' union, and the union agreed to lower the level of criticism toward the City Council, drawing attention to whether the conflict between the two sides, which had escalated head-on, will be resolved.

According to the city public officials' union on the 8th, on the 3rd, a meeting was held at the union office with participation from Moon Jae-ho, Chair of the Goyang City Council Operations Committee, and other committee members to establish a culture of mutual respect between the City Council and city public officials. This meeting was arranged at the request of the City Council.
At the meeting, both sides discussed ▲ prioritizing the processing of the public officials' organizational restructuring plan ▲ broadcasting standing committee sessions live to satisfy the right to know of citizens and public officials ▲ forming a Goyang City Council Ethics Committee to establish a culture of mutual respect and eradicate power abuse ▲ forming a ruling-opposition-government consultative body to ease political conflicts between the city and the City Council.
Chair Moon Jae-ho said, "We know that the current strong confrontation between the City Council and the executive branch is only causing innocent public officials to suffer," and added, "The Operations Committee will convey the matters discussed with the union to each standing committee and strive to ensure that progressive consultations can be made within the council."
In response, Union Chair Jang Hye-jin said, "The organizational restructuring promoted by the city includes improvements to administrative organization such as transfers of lower-level positions, adjustment of personnel quotas for those on leave or returning to work, and resolving personnel stagnation in small job categories," and requested, "The City Council should not leave the restructuring plan to the mayor and the executive branch but consider it from the perspective of the lower-level positions in Goyang City's administrative organization."
Earlier, the city public officials' union had raised the level of opposition by holding a rally condemning the City Council after it cut the executive branch's business promotion expenses and rejected the organizational restructuring plan last month. The union decided to remove banners and statements condemning the City Council on the occasion of this meeting.
