President Yoon's Approval Rating at 39.3%
Democratic Party Support Drops 3.1%p to 42.3%
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating for his administration rebounded after four weeks.
According to the regular public opinion poll conducted by Realmeter on the 6th (commissioned by Media Tribune, conducted from the 30th of last month to the 3rd of this month, targeting 2,511 adults aged 18 and over nationwide using ARS automated response method), President Yoon's approval rating rose by 2.3 percentage points from the previous week's survey to 39.3%.
President Yoon's approval rating showed a notable increase in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region (up 12.9 percentage points) and among those in their 60s (up 4.7 percentage points). The approval rating among women also drew attention, rising by 3.9 percentage points (from 35.2% to 39.1%) compared to the previous survey. Negative evaluations fell by 2.0 percentage points to 57.8% from the previous survey.
Earlier, on the 1st, President Yoon visited the birthplace of the late former President Park Chung-hee in Gumi and a semiconductor materials manufacturing company. The schedule to visit Daegu-Gyeongbuk a day before former President Park Geun-hye's birthday (February 2) is seen as reinforcing conservative identity.
Meanwhile, in party support ratings, the Democratic Party of Korea's support fell by 3.1 percentage points to 42.3%. The People Power Party's support rose by 2.4 percentage points to 41.0%. The Democratic Party's support notably declined in Daegu-Gyeongbuk (down 11.7 percentage points), Daejeon-Sejong-Chungcheong (down 10.0 percentage points), and among those in their 20s (down 5.7%). As a result, the gap between the Democratic Party and the People Power Party's support narrowed to within the margin of error at 1.3 percentage points.
