Arrest of a Day Laborer in His 50s
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A man in his 50s who called the police after drinking and threatened to harm President Yoon Suk-yeol was arrested by the police.
On the 3rd, the Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul announced that they have booked and are investigating a man in his 50s named Kim on charges of intimidation. Kim is accused of calling 112 at 12:04 a.m. that day, saying he was taking a taxi to Yongsan and threatening to harm President Yoon.
The police apprehended Kim about 40 minutes after receiving the report and are investigating him while accompanying him voluntarily. According to the police investigation, Kim is a day laborer who called the police while intoxicated.
The police are also considering whether to add charges of obstruction of official duties, taking into account the fact that police resources are mobilized during late-night hours.

A police official stated, "We are reviewing whether to additionally apply charges of obstruction of official duties," and added that they plan to request a pretrial detention warrant.
