Jeonnam Province's 22 Cities and Counties Unite to Wish for a Successful Event

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo Organizing Committee (Chairman Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that it will hold the ‘Boom UP Festa’ at 1 p.m. on the 4th of next month at Ocheon Green Square, about 50 days before the opening of the 2023 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo.

This event is a gathering where not only the expo’s host organizations?the Korea Forest Service (Commissioner Nam Sang-hyun), Jeollanam-do Province (Governor Kim Young-rok), and Suncheon City (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu)?but also the heads of all 22 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do will attend to unite as one and pray for the successful hosting of the expo.

About 50 days before the opening of the 2023 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo, the 'Boom UP Festa' will be held at Green Square on the 4th of next month.

Along with the harmony of Jeollanam-do, about 150 members from hometown associations in Seoul, Busan, and other areas will also join to add momentum to the boom for the expo’s success.

In particular, the event venue, ‘Ocheon Green Square,’ is a space that was newly transformed from a detention basin, which functioned solely as a disaster prevention facility against large-scale floods, into a year-round grass plaza. It will be unveiled to the entire nation in advance along with the Boom UP Festa.

During the expo period, Ocheon Green Square will serve as a key hub connecting to the urban area, and after the expo, it is expected to be utilized as a meeting and communication window for citizens as well as a high-quality cultural relaxation space.

The event will begin with a pre-performance by local artists and an opening performance by the four-member art performance team Painters Hero, followed by a vision briefing for the expo, a Jeollanam-do residents’ harmony ceremony, and congratulatory performances by top-tier domestic singers spanning all generations, including Kai, B.O, Soyou, Kim Bum-soo, Kim Hee-jae, J-Weaver, and Na-young.

The Boom UP Festa will be broadcast live in real time on YouTube (Yeosu MBC Music Plus channel), allowing people to enjoy the event not only on-site but also online.

Chairman Noh Gwan-gyu (Mayor of Suncheon) said, “The 2023 Garden Expo is not simply an event for Suncheon City alone. The success of the expo will complete the construction of the South Coast Belt, and the resulting economic benefits will be shared with Jeollanam-do Province. I hope many people will come to this Boom UP Festa and join us in wishing for the expo’s success.”

The Garden Expo, under the theme ‘Living in the Garden,’ will be held for seven months from April 1 to October 31 at Suncheon Bay National Garden, Suncheon Bay Wetland, and the urban area.
