[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Yi-gang) announced on the 25th that it will select courteous and safe drivers as a new policy project to improve public transportation services and prevent inconveniences in transportation use.
The selection method involves residents scanning a QR code on the guide attached inside vehicles of 13 village buses, approximately 1,087 regular taxis, and about 1,039 private taxis under Seo-gu’s jurisdiction with their smartphones, then scoring 8 evaluation items on the connected evaluation form.
The evaluation period runs until December 18, and the scores will be divided into the first and second halves of the year in July and December. Based on the rankings, a total of 38 courteous and safe drivers will be selected annually, awarding ▲1 Grand Prize winner (1,000,000 KRW) ▲3 Excellence winners (500,000 KRW each) ▲5 Encouragement winners (300,000 KRW each) ▲10 Consolation winners (100,000 KRW each), with total prize money amounting to approximately 10 million KRW.
Preferences of the selected drivers will be surveyed, and souvenirs will be given to all. The grand prize courteous and safe driver will also receive a commendation from the district mayor.
A Seo-gu official stated, “This project will be an opportunity for workers to enhance their pride, and naturally, passengers will feel the improved public transportation services. We will do our best to establish an advanced public transportation culture where both passengers and drivers are satisfied and considerate of each other.”
