Former Charg? d'Affaires at North Korean Embassy in UK
"North Korea Will Be Surprised by South Korea's Inclusiveness"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] Tae Young-ho, a member of the People Power Party, officially announced his candidacy for the Supreme Council member position in the March 8 party convention.
On the 19th, Tae held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office and stated, "The person who understands North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's true intentions best in the Republic of Korea is none other than Tae Young-ho. Based on my experience, I now feel a sense of mission to take on more responsible roles in leading the party and government's diplomatic and North Korea policies." Tae, a former North Korean embassy official in the UK, defected in 2016 and sought asylum in South Korea. He was nominated and elected in the last general election representing Gangnam Gap, Seoul.
Tae emphasized, "If Tae Young-ho, who has thoroughly examined the nature of the North Korean hereditary regime and accurately understands its weaknesses, becomes a Supreme Council member of the ruling party in South Korea, that would be the thing Kim Jong-un fears the most. Furthermore, the international community will come to believe that South Korea will now implement a proper North Korea policy."
He continued, "All my legislative activities are closely watched by North Korean elites without exception. If I become a Supreme Council member of the People Power Party, they will be greatly surprised by the diversity and inclusiveness of South Korean politics, which will cause even greater turmoil."
Moreover, Tae expressed, "I believed that stopping the 'fake peace show' of the Moon Jae-in administration was my duty, and I have stood here today as a warrior of the conservative camp targeting the Moon administration. I will do my best for the day when the ideology of liberal democracy will also bloom in North Korean land."

Tae also revealed his preference for Kim Ki-hyun among the candidates for party leader.
