[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Choi] Krafton shared its business vision for this year on the 19th through its internal communication program, ‘KRAFTON LIVE TALK (KLT).’
Kim Chang-han, CEO of Krafton, stated at KLT, “Our ultimate vision remains to secure and expand powerful intellectual property (IP) in gaming,” adding, “This year is a time to concentrate our capabilities toward that goal.”
The key focus areas for this year include ▲innovation and consolidation of organizational capabilities ▲strengthening publishing capabilities and systems ▲continued investment in the future. From a business perspective, Krafton plans to drive growth by focusing on the Battlegrounds IP while continuing to invest selectively in core businesses through a strategy of focus and prioritization.
In particular, CEO Kim emphasized strengthening publishing capabilities. He explained that to continuously introduce game lineups and lead growth in the global market, it is necessary to enhance the publishing and production management systems.
To this end, Krafton plans to reorganize its internal structure for publishing and improve the management approach for independent studios. The company intends to increase opportunities for second-party publishing, meaning external developer equity investment and publishing, alongside its current focus on in-house development and development by affiliated independent studios.
Investment will also continue in key new business areas such as the metaverse and deep learning. CEO Kim highlighted that these fields have strong relevance to Krafton’s core competency in game production technology, making them highly valuable ventures to pursue.
