Kim Ki-hyun Raises 'Broad Solidarity'... Na Kyung-won and Yoo Seung-min Also Possible
Emphasizing Yeonpotang (Yeondae·Poyong·Tangpyeong) Politics
Refuting 'Jang Je-won Secretary-General Rumor'
[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] Kim Ki-hyun, a lawmaker considered a leading candidate for the People Power Party leadership election on March 8, has brought up the idea of a 'broad coalition.' This is interpreted as an outreach emphasizing the possibility of working together with former lawmakers Na Kyung-won and Yoo Seung-min.
On the morning of the 19th, after finishing a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office, Kim met with reporters and, when asked about plans to meet with Na Kyung-won and Yoo Seung-min, he stated, "Not only party members but anyone who shares our values, I am willing to meet openly and sincerely at any time to continue discussions on unification."

When asked if he had contacted or proposed a meeting with Na, he replied, "There have been some ongoing processes, but it is not the right time to disclose details; I will speak when the appropriate time comes."
As factional noise related to the leadership election grows, with the pro-Yoon (pro Yoon Seok-yeol) faction issuing a 'first-term lawmakers' statement targeting Na Kyung-won, Kim seems to be trying to calm the situation as a pro-Yoon candidate. At the press conference, Kim said, "These days, rather than the party uniting as one to gain the love and trust of the people, the discord and fighting are louder, causing concern for many," and added, "As a leading candidate in the ruling party's leadership election, I apologize for causing worry."
Kim continued, "I will raise the banner of 'national grand unity' for victory in the general election through politics of coalition, inclusion, and balance (Yeonpotang)," emphasizing, "Any attempt to divide the party cannot be justified under any pretext."
He also stated, "There will never be any unfair practices such as excluding specific factions during the general election nomination process," and added, "As has been the case so far, I will not prioritize factions but will operate the party and conduct nominations through a fair system."
