Suncheon City Switches Branch-Type Suncheon Sarang Gift Certificates to 5% Discount
Mobile Version Applies 10% Until Budget Is Exhausted
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that the discount rate for the paper-type Suncheon Sarang Gift Certificates will be changed to 5% starting from the 19th.
The city stated that this was an unavoidable measure due to the early depletion of the planned sales inventory. However, the mobile-type will continue to apply a 10% discount until the budget is exhausted.
In response to the difficult local economy caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and to stimulate consumption and revitalize the economy, the city implemented a special 10% discount sale of Suncheon Sarang Gift Certificates starting in January to celebrate the New Year and the Lunar New Year holiday.
The sales scale is 17 billion KRW (5 billion KRW for paper-type, 12 billion KRW for mobile), and as of the 16th, a total of 9.9 billion KRW has been sold, with 4.1 billion KRW for paper-type and 5.8 billion KRW for mobile-type.
A Suncheon City official said, “Since the Suncheon Sarang Gift Certificates are greatly contributing to the revitalization of the local economy, we will strive to enable more citizens to enjoy discount benefits by considering additional budget support trends such as national subsidies.”
Meanwhile, Suncheon City plans to expand the issuance ratio of paper-type and mobile-type to 3:7 to reduce merchant card fees and prevent illegal distribution.
