Japanese Embassy in China Urged Not to Politicize Quarantine Issues
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwak Minjae] The Chinese Embassy in Japan criticized Japan, which has strengthened quarantine policies for arrivals from China, saying, "Do not politicize quarantine issues."
According to Kyodo News on the 17th (local time), the Chinese Embassy in Japan stated in a press release that "It is against the principle that quarantine measures should be scientific and appropriate for a few countries, including Japan, to maintain entry restrictions on China."
They added, "Many countries are welcoming Chinese travelers," and "medical experts say that entry restrictions on Chinese nationals are unnecessary." Regarding China's suspension of general visa issuance to Japanese nationals, they said, "China has the right to take reciprocal measures."
Earlier, the Japanese government announced on the 26th of last month that, following China's announcement to shift away from the 'Zero COVID' policy, it would conduct COVID-19 tests on all arrivals from China starting the next day.
