'2022 Police Heroes of the Year' Choi Gyusik and Jeong Jongsu 55th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony for Fallen Officers
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Kim Kwang-ho, Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, attended a memorial event honoring fallen police officers.
At around 2 p.m. that day, Commissioner Kim attended the 55th anniversary memorial event for the late Chief Superintendent Choi Gyu-sik and the late Sergeant Jeong Jong-su at the National Veterans Affairs memorial facility located at Jahamun Hill in Cheongun-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. The National Police Agency selected the two officers as the '2022 Police Heroes of the Year' at the Police Day ceremony on October 21 last year.

The two officers died in the line of duty on January 21, 1968, during a firefight with 31 armed North Korean infiltrators who had entered Seoul to launch a surprise attack on the Blue House.
