Jokyuil Jinju Mayor Checks Progress of Bugang Jinju Season 2 Entering Main Track
Completion of 3 Major Projects for UAM Industry Development and Prosperous Jinju
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jo Gyu-il, mayor of Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, received reports on the major tasks of each department for the new year from 10 bureaus and offices, including the Planning and Administration Bureau, at the city hall small conference room from the 10th to the 13th.
Under the goal of the 8th elected administration’s “Prosperous Jinju Season 2, Entering the Main Track,” this reporting meeting was attended by Mayor Jo Gyu-il, Vice Mayor Shin Jong-woo, heads of bureaus and offices, department heads, and team leaders, who thoroughly reviewed the major tasks of each department for 2023.
Additionally, for key projects currently facing some difficulties in implementation, the meeting identified the problems and discussed countermeasures to resolve them.

View original imageAbove all, to establish the “solid self-sustaining power,” the top priority task of the 8th elected administration, this year the city will focus administrative efforts on producing visible results in related infrastructure, including securing future growth engines such as the UAM industry and completing the three major Prosperous Jinju projects. The meeting also engaged in in-depth discussions on what role the city should play to ensure citizens’ safety and welfare and how to prepare measures to overcome the current crisis.
Looking at the city’s key projects for this year in the administration and economy sectors, the plans include ▲developing Jinju City’s urban brand ▲implementing the Hometown Love Donation System ▲constructing a media facade at Mulchoul Park ▲building the KAI rotary-wing flight center ▲creating a satellite-specialized zone in the space industry cluster ▲promoting youth vitality projects ▲establishing a support hub for full-cycle standardization of natural materials ▲and developing the Sangpyeong Industrial Complex as a low-carbon green industrial complex.
In the culture and welfare sectors, the city plans to ▲promote the 100th anniversary project of the Equality Movement ▲hold the special exhibition “The Flow of Korean Color Painting 2” at the Lee Seong-ja Art Museum ▲establish Jinju as a global entrepreneurship capital ▲found the Harmo Early Childhood Sports Team ▲host the 2023 Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships ▲actively promote urban regeneration projects in Seongbuk, Gangnam, Jungang, and Sangdae districts ▲implement the Clearing & Love Project for households suspected of hoarding ▲build the Jinju Eastern Family Center ▲and support the Jinju-style shared daycare center “Guseulmoeum Daycare Center,” providing tailored welfare services.
In the urban construction, transportation, and environment sectors, the city will focus on ▲creating the Old Jinju Station Railroad Culture Park and Cultural Street ▲building the Seongbuk-dong Child and Welfare Center ▲opening a connecting road from the New Jinju Station area to National Road No. 2 ▲conducting a field survey for designation of third-class facilities ▲supporting housing lease loan interest for multi-child families ▲implementing free city bus rides for youth ▲establishing a hydrogen charging station for commercial vehicles ▲hosting the 2023 Wolasan Garden Expo ▲promoting the Jinyangho Renaissance Project ▲and creating the Mangyeong Bicycle Theme Park.
Furthermore, the city will also implement various policies in agriculture, health, clean water, and lifelong learning sectors, including ▲operating the Rural Labor Support Group ▲installing agricultural machinery rental offices in five eastern townships ▲constructing an integrated food support center ▲building a comprehensive pet support center ▲constructing a new health center building ▲providing pregnancy congratulatory funds ▲integrating the first and second water purification plants ▲partially supporting private kindergarten parents’ fees ▲operating the comprehensive senior center (Hongnakwon) ▲and running the Women’s New Start and Visiting “Together” Counseling Office, ensuring thorough efforts to promote citizens’ prosperous lives.
Mayor Jo said, “These days, citizens are facing difficulties due to high prices and high interest rates,” and added, “In 2023, our city must make the best efforts possible to give citizens greater hope.”
