180 New Firefighter Recruits Take Their First Step
Central Fire Academy 105th New Appointees Graduation Ceremony Held
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Central Fire Academy announced on the 16th that it will hold the graduation ceremony for the 105th class of newly appointed firefighters tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the Central Fire Academy auditorium.
The 105th class of newly appointed firefighters consists of 180 individuals hired through the firefighter recruitment exams (both internal and open) from the Central 119 Rescue Headquarters and seven metropolitan cities and provinces.
Those who enrolled last August underwent 24 weeks of training (19 weeks of classroom instruction and 5 weeks of field training) to acquire the basic knowledge and practical skills necessary for firefighting duties, including fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical services. In particular, they highlighted the 5-week field training period, during which they directly experienced duties outside their assigned recruitment fields, as the most meaningful time.
At the graduation ceremony, awards and certificates will be presented to outstanding students. The prestigious Fire Agency Commissioner Award was won by firefighter Kim Hoonji (male, 28) from the Daegu Fire Safety Headquarters, who achieved the highest academic performance. Additionally, firefighters Moon Hyejeong (female, 27), Seo Gyujong (male, 26), Yoon Hanyeong (male, 32), Lee Sangkyung (male, 27), Park Yongsuk (male, 28), and Lee Ilhyeong (female, 26) received the Central Fire Academy President’s Award.
Firefighter Kim Hoonji, recipient of the Fire Agency Commissioner Award, expressed, “I am grateful to the professors and instructors who passionately guided us through the hot summer and unusually cold winter, as well as to my classmates who endured those challenging times together. I will continue to work hard on the front lines without forgetting the sweat and initial determination from the Fire Academy, striving to become a trustworthy and outstanding firefighter for the public.”
