Gwangju Buk-gu Takes Measures to Prevent Disaster Accidents Ahead of Seol Holiday
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is stepping up safety management to prevent disaster accidents ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
According to Buk-gu on the 12th, safety inspections will be conducted on 18 multi-use facilities frequently used by residents, such as traditional markets, large supermarkets, and movie theaters, until the 20th.
The purpose of this inspection is to raise awareness of safety management in multi-use facilities that could lead to large-scale accidents in the event of an incident, and to eliminate risk factors in advance to protect residents' lives and property.
Accordingly, a joint public-private inspection team composed of experts in architecture, electricity, and firefighting will visit the facilities to focus on inspecting ▲major structural risk factors ▲wiring defects and operation status of leakage circuit breakers ▲fire extinguishing equipment and evacuation facilities ▲compliance with legal standards and safety.
Based on the inspection results, Buk-gu plans to immediately correct minor issues on-site and promote repairs and reinforcements for issues that are difficult to fix immediately before the holiday.
Additionally, facilities that are difficult to maintain within the designated period will receive emergency measures and continuous management until the risk factors are resolved, and administrative actions will be requested to the management agency if violations are detected.
Moon In, head of Buk-gu Office, said, “We will carefully manage to raise awareness of safety negligence, which can easily be overlooked, and prevent safety accidents. Furthermore, we will steadily implement the ongoing Lunar New Year resident livelihood stabilization measures.”
