Hyundai L&C Obtains GR Certification for 'Recycled PET Packaging Sheets'
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Hyundai L&C announced on the 11th that its 'recycled PET packaging sheet' has obtained the Good Recycled Product (GR) certification.
The GR certification was introduced in 1997 by the government to enhance trust in recycled products by providing quality certification for recycled goods. A Hyundai L&C official stated, "With a recycled material content reaching 90% while meeting the Food Sanitation Act, we have become the first in Korea to acquire the GR certification for recycled PET packaging sheets," adding, "The recycled PET packaging sheet received high evaluations for its quality, eco-friendliness, and quality management system throughout the entire production process."
Since 2021, Hyundai L&C has been supplying food containers made with recycled PET sheets to Hyundai Department Store and Hyundai Green Food. These food containers feature a triple-layer structure, with the middle layer made of recycled PET and both surfaces, including the one in contact with the contents, made from new PET raw material layers. Due to strong consumer response, Hyundai L&C has expanded production of food containers using recycled PET sheets from 8 types to 26 types.
