Korail Cracks Down on Illegal Ticket Trading During Seollal Holiday
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Kim] Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 6th that it plans to crack down on illegal ticket trading during this Lunar New Year holiday as well.
Since 2020, KORAIL has been building a big data analysis system to prevent illegal ticket trading, and is monitoring in real-time abnormal purchase histories such as bulk purchases followed by returns, as well as access logs using macro programs.
In addition, KORAIL has designated tickets sold at a premium as prohibited items in cooperation with major online secondhand trading sites. When unfair tickets are traded, they are immediately deleted and usage is restricted, and depending on the case, police investigations are requested, responding strongly as in the above cases.
KORAIL plans to provide train discount coupons to whistleblowers or suspicious reporters of illegal ticket trading, and reports can be submitted via a dedicated email for ticket scalping reports.
