Strengthening Animal Disease and Livestock Product Precision Inspections... Ulsan Health and Environment Research Institute Establishes Precision Inspection Division at Animal Hygiene Testing Center
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Ulsan Health and Environment Research Institute has established a Precision Testing Division within the Animal Hygiene Testing Center.
The institute announced on the 4th that this organizational restructuring, effective from the 1st, will strengthen the functions of animal disease and livestock product precision testing.
According to the organizational restructuring of the Health and Environment Research Institute, the structure has expanded from 3 departments and 13 divisions to 3 departments and 14 divisions, with the Animal Hygiene Testing Center reorganized into the Animal Hygiene Division, Precision Testing Division, and Livestock Product Testing Division.
The newly established Precision Testing Division of the Animal Hygiene Testing Center will perform tasks such as serological testing and pathological diagnosis of animal diseases to identify infection causes and analyze outbreak origins, testing for harmful residues like antibiotics and pesticides, and antibiotic-resistant bacteria testing.
They are also promoting the introduction of a veterinary forensic diagnostic system to determine causes of death through necropsy of animal carcasses.
Additionally, regarding Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (SFTS), a tick-borne disease with a high fatality rate that requires caution for people engaging in outdoor activities, they plan to expand diagnostic capabilities by obtaining additional approval for test items as a ‘Wildlife Disease Diagnostic Institution.’
Furthermore, they will conduct continuous monitoring of SFTS alongside this year’s ‘Survey Project on the Infection Rate of Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome Virus in Stray Cats in the Ulsan Area.’
