Gangseo-gu Sends New Year's Greeting Cards via Mobile Instead of Paper
Reflecting the Digital Era, Expected Budget Savings and Reduced Distance with Residents
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Tae-woo) will send New Year's greeting cards via mobile messages instead of mail to save budget and reflect the digital era familiar to smartphones.
Every year at the end of the year, the district has produced and mailed New Year's greeting cards to express gratitude and wish happiness for the new year to residents who have worked for the development of the district, such as community leaders, heads of professional and social organizations, and administrative committee members.
However, in 2023, the Year of the Black Rabbit (Gyemyo Year, 癸卯年), the practical first year of the 8th local government term, the district decided to send New Year's greeting cards via mobile messages instead of mail to eliminate unnecessary customs and narrow the distance with residents.
Through this, the district expects to save about 20 million KRW in budget, including approximately 15 million KRW annually spent on producing paper greeting cards and the reduced mailing costs, which have decreased to one-tenth.
