The number of new cases decreased by 6,220 compared to the previous day (71,427). It also dropped by 2,961 compared to a week ago on the 23rd (68,168). The recent trend in case numbers shows a pattern of stagnation and decline, and health authorities expect a gradual peak to be reached within January.
The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized is 562, down by 28 from the previous day. The number of critically ill patients has remained in the 500s for 13 consecutive days.
There were 68 new COVID-19 related deaths reported. The cumulative death toll stands at 32,095, with a fatality rate of 0.11%.
As of midnight, the additional vaccination rate for the winter season is 30.7% for those aged 60 and over, and 52.4% for infection-vulnerable facilities.
