Imsil-gun Secures 7.3 Billion KRW in Special Grants... 92% Increase Compared to Previous Year
[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk has secured the largest amount of special grants ever this year.
According to the county on the 29th, the total amount secured through the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's special grants this year is 7.3 billion KRW, which is a 92% increase compared to last year.
The county recently achieved the largest scale of grants ever by additionally securing 2 billion KRW in special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety ahead of the year-end.
The additionally secured special grants amount to 2 billion KRW for a total of four projects: one project in the local issues sector worth 400 million KRW and three projects in the disaster safety sector worth 1.6 billion KRW.
By item, the projects include 400 million KRW for installing landscape lighting on the Bung-eo Island suspension bridge, 900 million KRW for the Osu Jangbang small stream maintenance project, 300 million KRW for the Shindeok Secheon maintenance project, and 400 million KRW for the Osu Dotong small stream maintenance project.
Through the special grants secured this time, the county plans to install nighttime landscape lighting on the Okjeongho suspension bridge, which is emerging as a tourist attraction in Imsil, providing new sights for tourists.
The suspension bridge connecting Bung-eo Island on Okjeongho, which opened in October last year, has rapidly become a nationwide tourist attraction, with over 450,000 visitors until its temporary closure this month.
The county plans to carry out the landscape lighting installation project on the Bung-eo Island suspension bridge during the closure period ahead of its official opening in the first half of next year.
Additionally, through securing these grants, the county plans to prevent property and human damage caused by flooding during heavy rains by maintaining local small streams and other areas.
County Governor Shim Min said, “Despite difficult government financial conditions, I am very pleased that the county has secured nearly double the amount of grants compared to last year, the largest ever,” and added, “Building on this achievement, we will continue efforts to open an era of an 800 billion KRW budget during my term, which is a pledge of the 8th local government.”
