Shinan-gun Secures Legal Trademark Rights for Shinan Wangsae-u Shrimp
Expecting Brand Value Increase through Trademark Registration with the Korean Intellectual Property Office
[Sinan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do has completed trademark registration with the Korean Intellectual Property Office to promote the excellence of Sinan Wangsaeu domestically and internationally.
From now on, shrimp farming producers have secured the legal and institutional rights to use the ‘Sinan Wangsaeu’ trademark. This is expected to greatly contribute not only to income improvement and management stabilization through increased brand value but also to the revitalization of the local economy.
Sinan-gun plans to use the newly registered ‘Sinan Wangsaeu’ trademark annually at the Island Wangsaeu Festival and on packaging materials to externally promote Sinan-gun as the main production area of Wangsaeu.
Park Woo-ryang, the mayor of Sinan-gun, said, “By exclusively using the brand symbolizing the Wangsaeu produced in the 1004 Islands of Sinan, we have been able to secure competitiveness.”
