Pukyong National University Sweeps EduTech Plus Contest by Korean Society for Educational Technology

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Duyul] Students of Pukyong National University swept all categories by winning the grand prize and other awards at the Korean Society for Educational Technology’s ‘2022 EduTech Plus Contest.’
This contest was held to create content that can enhance learners’ understanding and induce interest and immersion in educational settings. It called for video content of about 5 minutes on the recent trends in educational technology.
At Pukyong National University, Taehyun Eom, a master’s student majoring in English Education, won the grand prize; Yeongeun Kim, a master’s student in Design Education, received the excellence award; and a team of fourth-year Early Childhood Education students, Hwoejin Jeong, Mijin Gumi, Heesoo Kim, and Jiwon Yoo, won the merit award.
Taehyun Eom received the grand prize for his work titled ‘What is Education,’ which presented the potential of the metaverse.
In this work, he explained that true education is about guiding learners to find their own methods and helping them freely express their thoughts, and he received high praise for proposing the metaverse as a new educational method today.
Yeongeun Kim won the excellence award for her work ‘Surisuri Misuri,’ which highlighted the advantages of using virtual reality (VR) technology in future art education.
The Early Childhood Education student team including Hwoejin Jeong was selected as merit award winners for their work ‘Neulpum,’ which presented the strengths and weaknesses of metaverse education platforms and suggested improvements.
