"1cm Snow Forecast"... Seoul City Launches Emergency Snow Removal Duty
649 Personnel and 1,197 Snow Removal Equipment Deployed
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] With 1 cm of snow forecasted in Seoul in the early morning of the 28th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will issue an emergency snow removal duty (reinforcement) starting from 11 PM on the 27th and will deploy snow removal vehicles and equipment in advance to prepare for the snowfall.
By detecting signs of snowfall in advance through CCTVs installed along the snowfall path in the West Sea region, snow removal agents will be preemptively spread before snow falls in Seoul. A total of 649 personnel and 1,197 snow removal equipment units will be mobilized to prepare for the snowfall.
Snow removal boxes stocked with snow removal agents and equipment have been replenished in alleyways and steep slopes so that anyone can easily use them. Citizens are also urged to participate in clearing snow in front of their homes and stores.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government also emphasized that since temperatures will remain below freezing after the early morning snowfall, there is a risk of road icing on major arterial roads and residential alleyways. Drivers should maintain sufficient safety distance and pay special attention to pedestrian safety to prevent slip-and-fall accidents.
