"Curious about the Sea? Together with the Sea" ... Busan Fishery Folk Museum Offers Winter Vacation Experience Education for Families
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The Busan Marine Natural History Museum will hold a "Winter Vacation Education Program" for families with children for 5 days between January 10 and 19 next year to wish for the hosting of the 2030 Busan World Expo, learn about fishing village folklore and the ocean, and experience various activities.
This winter vacation experiential education program consists of four parts: ▲ "New Year's Greeting, the Clever Rabbit" ▲ "Learning about Dokdo through Yutnori" ▲ "Prosperous Fishing Village, Together with the Sea" ▲ "The Fishing Village Cheers, Host it in Busan" to wish for the hosting of the 2030 Busan World Expo. It will be held 10 times over 5 days in the multi-video education room on the first floor of the Busan Fishing Village Folklore Hall.
▲ In "New Year's Greeting, the Clever Rabbit," to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit 2023 (Gyemyo Year, 癸卯年), participants will learn about the history, culture, and traditional customs related to the rabbit and make rabbit worry dolls and brooches using macrame and wool felt. This program is for elementary school students, and a guardian must accompany them.
▲ "Learning about Dokdo through Yutnori" is an educational program linked to the current special exhibition "Our Land, Our Sea, Protecting Dokdo." Families can play Yutnori together to foster cooperation and learn about the history of Dokdo and the value and importance of our maritime territory, Dokdo.
▲ In "Prosperous Fishing Village, Together with the Sea," families with children aged 6 and older can participate in an upcycling craft experience by recycling sea glass, a type of marine litter, to make beautiful sea glass necklaces for the whole family. Through this, they can think about ways to reduce marine pollution for a prosperous sea and clean fishing village and learn about marine environmental protection.
▲ "The Fishing Village Cheers, Host it in Busan" is a program to wish for the hosting of the 2030 Busan World Expo, exploring the reasons why the Expo venue should be Busan and understanding the characteristics of Busan's representative character Boogi and birds.
Thinking about what the 2030 Busan World Expo, which our future generations will welcome, might look like, participants will create their own Boogi goods (Shrinkle: magic paper art) filled with hopes for the future. Children aged 7 (preschool) and elementary school students can participate in the education.
Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 a.m. on the 27th until 5 p.m. on January 6 next year through the museum website or the Busan City integrated reservation system. Participation is free, and on-site registration will also be available on the day if there are vacancies or no-shows.
A representative of the Marine Natural History Museum said, "Through a rich and meaningful winter vacation education program with various themes, we hope children realize the infinite possibilities of the ocean and dream various dreams." He added, "There are many other diverse programs such as Saturday experience classes and the first-floor fishing village experience room, so we hope families visit the Fishing Village Folklore Hall to enjoy the exhibits and create joyful and warm memories together."
