City-District/County Communication, Interest, and Effort Practiced in Preparation for On-site Inspection
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] On the 26th at 5 p.m., Mayor Park Hyung-jun and the heads of 16 districts and counties held the ‘3rd Communication and Innovation Meeting between the City and Districts/Counties in the 8th Elected Term’ at the Yeollin Hall of Busan City Hall to discuss the field of urban design.
This meeting is the third gathering following two previous meetings between the mayor and district/county heads in the 8th elected term held on July 2 and October 24. It was organized as a meaningful occasion to practice and fulfill the ‘Busan City-District/County Communication and Innovation Declaration’ jointly announced at the first meeting for efficient city administration through active communication with districts and counties.
Attending today’s meeting will be Mayor Park Hyung-jun, district heads and county governors of Busan in the 8th elected term, and key officials from city departments. The agenda will proceed in the order of ▲appreciation for the efforts of district and county administrations in the 8th elected term ▲presentation of mid- to long-term innovation tasks in the urban design field ▲discussion on the agenda items.
The presentation agenda was pre-selected in the field of urban design in Busan to prepare for the on-site inspection of the 2030 World Expo scheduled for early April next year and to facilitate practical communication and in-depth discussion.
During the meeting, emphasis will be placed on establishing a cooperative system and role-sharing with districts and counties in preparation for the World Expo on-site inspection. Plans to effectively convey the enthusiasm of Busan citizens hoping for the World Expo Busan bid to the inspection team, such as holding citizen-participatory welcome events, will also be discussed.
Mayor Park said, “For the successful bid of the World Expo, the city brand image of Busan is very important, and a systematic and aesthetically unified urban design is necessary as a measure for this.” He added, “We selected today’s agenda to raise the awareness of public officials about urban design and to cooperate with districts and counties. I hope to deliver the joyful news of Busan’s Expo bid confirmation around this time next year, and I ask for the active support and cooperation of districts and counties until the very end.”
