President's Sejong Office Reflected, Sejong City Construction Budget Confirmed at 225 Billion Won
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The budget for the Sejong City construction project, which includes the costs for the Presidential Sejong Office and the National Assembly Sejong Chamber building, has been finalized following approval by the National Assembly.
According to the Administrative City Construction Agency on the 26th, the finalized budget for next year's Sejong City construction project is 225 billion KRW, an increase of 33.4 billion KRW (17.4%) from the government proposal of 191.6 billion KRW submitted to the National Assembly in August.
Most notably, the budget for next year includes the costs for the Presidential Sejong Office and the National Assembly Sejong Chamber building, which is expected to accelerate the progress of related projects.
The budget for the Presidential Sejong Office construction project increased from 100 million KRW in the government proposal to a final 300 million KRW, and 35 billion KRW was allocated for land acquisition costs for the National Assembly Sejong Chamber building.
Additionally, the next year's budget newly includes 100 million KRW for the Police Special Forces building, 500 million KRW for the 5-2 Living Zone Complex Community Center, 100 million KRW for the Science Culture Center, and 200 million KRW for the construction of a comprehensive sports facility in preparation for the 2027 Summer World University Games.
Furthermore, major budget items for next year include 57.8 billion KRW for the construction of five metropolitan roads, 4.5 billion KRW for the construction of the second Geumgang Bridge in Gongju, 17.8 billion KRW for the Sejong Police Agency building, and 38.8 billion KRW for the construction of four museums within the National Museum Complex.

An official from the Administrative City Construction Agency stated, "Despite the government's expenditure restructuring policy, most of the budget necessary for the Sejong City new town construction project has been reflected," and added, "We will focus administrative efforts to ensure that the secured budget is executed without any setbacks."
