The Prime Minister's Office issued a statement on the 23rd, stating, "Prime Minister Han has paid the fine imposed by the police on the same day regarding crossing the crosswalk during a red light."
The Prime Minister's Office added, "Prime Minister Han stated, 'I will carefully review my schedule and routes in the future to ensure that I do not violate the law and will make greater efforts to comply with legal order.'"
Prime Minister Han visited the joint memorial altar set up near Noksapyeong Station in Yongsan-gu without prior notice on the 19th but turned away after being protested by bereaved families demanding an apology.
At that time, while leaving the memorial altar and heading to a vehicle across the street, Prime Minister Han crossed the crosswalk during a red light. Regarding this, a citizen reported to the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul through the National Petition Portal, claiming that "Prime Minister Han violated the Road Traffic Act."
