Kakao Entertainment Strengthens Platform Synergy with North American Web Novels as K-Webtoons...
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Choi] Kakao Entertainment will introduce web novels serialized on Radish, the web novel platform of its North American subsidiary Tapas Entertainment, as Korean webtoons. This is the first time Radish works have been introduced as webtoons in Korea.
On the 21st, Kakao Entertainment announced that it will service the webtoon version of Radish's popular novel "Dating My Best Friend’s Sister" on KakaoPage and Kakao Webtoon.
"Dating My Best Friend’s Sister" is a romance novel that began serialization in 2019 and has recorded 400,000 cumulative subscribers and 50 million views on Radish. Kakao Entertainment decided to re-export this local work, believing the story would resonate with domestic readers. The writing was done by Geulpi and 281, and the illustrations were created by Pihu (TRULITE) and Haengip (TRULITE), bringing the story to life as a webtoon.
Starting with this, Kakao Entertainment plans to continuously introduce North American web novels as webtoons. In partnership with global webtoon production company TRULITE Korea, they will release the webtoons of Radish’s number one work "The Billionaire’s Surrogate" and the popular romance fantasy "My Pirate Prince" in the first half of next year.
