Hwasun-gun Proves Itself as a 'Food Safety City'... Receives Award from MFDS Commissioner

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyuk-jun] Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do, has proven its status as a food safety city by winning awards in the field of dietary management for three consecutive years.

According to the county on the 21st, the Hwasun-gun Children and Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center (hereinafter referred to as the Meal Center) was selected as an excellent institution in the "2022 Health Risk Nutrient Reduction Management" hosted by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and received a commendation.

This excellent institution selection is a result of actively promoting projects to reduce health risk nutrients such as sodium and sugar, contributing to the improvement of national health levels.

The Meal Center operated various programs to induce changes in dietary habits in the local community, achieving the spread of low-sodium and low-sugar dietary habits, including ▲supporting salinity meters for meal sites and providing usage education ▲designating "Samsam Day," which offers potassium-rich menus that help excrete sodium ▲children's education programs such as "Bbippo Bbippo 119, Eat Blandly" and "Na (Na) Now Reduce Salt (鹽)".

Na An-hee, head of the Meal Center, said, "We will continue to support raising the nutritional management level of meal sites in Hwasun and fostering proper dietary habits," adding, "We will do our best to reduce health risk nutrients by actively supporting low-sodium and low-sugar education and meal site consulting in the future."

Meanwhile, in 2020, the county was awarded the best institution nationwide in the children's dietary safety index for cities and counties, and in 2021, a local government hygiene management official received an excellence award in the health risk nutrient reduction project category.
