Naju-si Operates 'Intensive Discovery and Support Period for Welfare Crisis Households'
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Yoon Byung-tae) announced on the 21st that it will operate a “Welfare Crisis Household Intensive Discovery and Support” period until February next year to prepare for the winter season when the risk factors for low-income vulnerable groups increase sharply.
The main targets for discovery are “households experiencing economic difficulties due to seasonal unemployment, job reduction, or illness,” “crisis households reported to the social security information system due to power outage, water outage, or health insurance premium arrears,” and “vulnerable groups with high winter risk such as elderly living alone and severely disabled persons.”
Those in need of help due to livelihood crises can contact the nearest administrative welfare center, the city hall Hope Welfare Support Team, the 24-hour Crisis Household Support Call Center (120), or the Ministry of Health and Welfare Counseling Center (129) to receive customized welfare counseling services.
The city formed a task force for discovering and supporting vulnerable groups, led by the deputy mayor.
The task force will strengthen activities such as intensive discovery of crisis households, customized support, linkage of welfare services, and promotion using available media such as banners, electronic display boards, and posters.
In particular, it focuses on actively discovering and supporting crisis households by establishing a public-private cooperation system including customized welfare teams in towns, townships, and neighborhoods, community social security councils, welfare task forces, and honorary social welfare officers.
For discovered target households, public benefit support such as National Basic Livelihood Security, second-lowest income bracket, and emergency support will be actively considered. For crisis households that do not meet the selection criteria but are experiencing actual livelihood difficulties, private welfare resources will be linked and customized welfare services will be provided.
The 20 township, town, and neighborhood community social security councils and welfare task forces have promoted 36 beneficiary-customized welfare specialized projects that directly impact citizens’ lives this year, including “lowering house earthen floors,” “repair and maintenance of traditional toilets,” “replacement of wallpaper and flooring,” “operation of blanket laundries,” “side dish services,” and “installation of LED lights with wireless remote controls.”
Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, “The top priority of administration is to protect the health and safety of citizens,” and added, “We will do our best to build a dense welfare safety net through public-private cooperation and to timely support the discovery of crisis households in welfare blind spots and provide customized welfare services.”
