National Merit Recipients Can Use Public Transportation Nationwide with a Single Card
Starting Next Year, Korea Minting and Shinhan Card to Produce and Issue Cards
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] A 'Bohun TOP (Top) Card' for disabled veterans will be introduced.
On the 21st, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs announced, "Starting next year, disabled veterans will be able to conveniently use city buses and subways nationwide with a single transportation welfare card."
Until now, the transportation welfare cards for disabled veterans were not interoperable between regions, and some areas did not introduce them at all, causing disabled veterans to experience inconvenience by having to carry various identification cards to use public transportation for free. The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs consulted with local governments and related organizations, secured a budget through the 2020 National Participation Budget, and developed a nationwide interoperable transportation welfare card system.
The new transportation welfare card for disabled veterans, called the 'Bohun Top Card,' is produced and issued by the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation and Shinhan Card, while terminal construction contractors developed the nationwide interoperable system. Applications for the Bohun Top Card can be made at the local Veterans Affairs Office in the applicant's address area this year, and from next year, applications will be possible at any nearby Veterans Affairs Office.
