The city achieved consecutive awards, winning the Excellence Award last year and the Grand Prize this year.
The Gyeongbuk Province Fruit Industry Promotion Policy Evaluation assesses 23 cities and counties within the province annually from January to November, evaluating efforts to secure national and provincial project budgets in the fruit sector, appropriateness of budget execution, local government efforts to promote the fruit industry, interest and cooperation of agency heads, and other factors across 5 categories and 9 items.
In 2023, Pohang City secured 5.1 billion KRW in project funds by being selected for 3 out of 13 nationwide national projects for the Fruit Specialized Production Complex Infrastructure Project, the highest number among all regions. Additionally, the city independently allocated 2.5 billion KRW for 18 projects including labor reduction and safety equipment support, maintenance of fruit specialized production complexes, and organic fertilizer, contributing to enhancing fruit competitiveness. These efforts earned high marks in securing national and provincial project budgets, independent project performance, and agency head interest in this evaluation.
