"Too Scared to Report"... Taxi Driver Who Hit Man Lying on Road and Fled Urgently Arrested
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] A taxi driver in his 60s who hit and fled after running over a man in his 50s lying on the road at midnight was caught by the police.
According to Namhae Police Station in Gyeongnam on the 19th, taxi driver A was driving a taxi on Local Road No. 4 at the entrance of a village in Gohyeon-myeon, Namhae-gun at around 11:42 PM on the 17th when he ran over man B lying crosswise on the center line.
A left the scene without taking any measures after the accident, and B was later transferred to a hospital but died.
The police urgently arrested A at 3:08 AM on the 18th on charges of hit-and-run causing death under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes while he was fleeing.
During the police investigation, A reportedly stated, "I was scared and could not report it."
