On the 18th, the Japanese government announced that North Korea launched two ballistic missiles that morning, both of which fell outside Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
According to Kyodo News, Defense Vice Minister Ino Toshiro said, "It is estimated that the two ballistic missiles launched by North Korea fell outside the EEZ," adding, "The two ballistic missiles are believed to have flown about 500 km at a maximum altitude of approximately 550 km." No damage to aircraft or ships has been confirmed as a result.

Vice Minister Ino reiterated that repeated ballistic missile launches by North Korea are absolutely unacceptable and stated, "We have protested to North Korea through the Beijing embassy channel in China."
