Police Conducting Precise Investigation into Incident Involving Bus Driver
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] An accident occurred in which an elementary school student was hit by a bus and died while crossing the street alone.
On the 17th, the Suseo Police Station in Seoul announced that they are investigating an incident in which a 12-year-old elementary school student crossing a crosswalk on a road in Segok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, was hit by a bus and died at around 9:08 a.m. that day.
The accident site was located about 15 meters away from a children's protection zone (school zone). It is known that the child who died was crossing the road alone when the accident occurred.
At the time, the road was slippery due to accumulated snow from the morning.
A police official stated, "As a result of measuring alcohol levels on bus driver Mr. A, it was confirmed that he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident," and added, "We plan to determine the exact circumstances of the incident, including any driving negligence."
