Gwangju Seo-gu Wins 'Grand Prize' in Ministry of Health and Welfare's Community Integrated Care Evaluation

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Yi-gang) announced on the 15th that it won the 'Grand Prize' in the 2022 Regional Welfare Project Community Integrated Care Service category evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

In particular, this award holds great significance as the final evaluation by the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the achievements Seo-gu has pursued over the past four years, at the time of concluding this year's community integrated care pilot project.

The community integrated care pilot project, which began in June 2019, is a Ministry of Health and Welfare public contest project aimed at promoting preventive care so that elderly people who need care but find it difficult to receive family care can maintain a healthy life in their residences.

This evaluation was conducted on 41 local governments implementing the community integrated care project, focusing on the establishment of care plans by local governments, the establishment of integrated care promotion systems, service provision, and efforts to reform the system.

Seo-gu was highly evaluated for establishing its own welfare system by providing various care services to residents, including mandatory visits to households with seniors aged 75 and over, development of the Happy Manager app, provision of Seo-gu Safe 5 Care (housing, health care, etc.) services, pilot project for the Home Medical Care Center, and 24-hour Safe Call dispatch service.

Mayor Kim Yi-gang of Seo-gu said, "The integrated care model of Seo-gu achieved so far will contribute to transforming the welfare paradigm of local governments," and added, "We will continue to promote Seo-gu's unique integrated care policies targeting vulnerable groups in the district and establish Seo-gu as a welfare mecca of Korea."
