Jeon Hyun-hee, Yoo Byung-ho and Anti-Corruption Commission Staff Reported to the Corruption Investigation Office for Alleged "False Reporting"
[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Son Seonhee] Jeon Hyun-hee, Chairperson of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC), has filed a complaint with the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (HOCI) against Yoo Byung-ho, Secretary General of the Board of Audit and Inspection (BAI), and internal staff members of the ACRC. The staff member is known to be the whistleblower who triggered the audit of the ACRC.
On the 15th, Chairperson Jeon stated via social networking service (SNS), "The BAI audit of the ACRC was initiated based on a report from a senior ACRC official who is close to Secretary General Yoo," adding, "they have committed crimes including abuse of authority, defamation, obstruction of official duties by deception, false accusation, violation of the Anti-Corruption Act, and violation of the Public Official Conflict of Interest Prevention Act. I have filed a complaint and hope for a thorough investigation and strict punishment."
Chairperson Jeon claims that Secretary General Yoo and the senior ACRC official colluded to carry out a targeted audit against her. The BAI conducted a special audit from August to September regarding allegations related to Chairperson Jeon's attendance and the ACRC's legal interpretation process concerning preferential military treatment allegations involving the son of former Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae.

Chairperson Jeon asserted, "(The whistleblower) illegally obtained internal materials related to reports under the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, which are confidential due to official duties," and "there is suspicion that these were illegally provided to the BAI for personal gain, specifically to pressure the Chairperson of the ACRC to resign for the whistleblower's own promotion." She further stated, "the BAI and the whistleblower shared a common interest in forcing the resignation of the Chairperson to gain favor with the administration," adding, "I hope the HOCI will thoroughly investigate the truth and restore the BAI as an institution serving the people, not the administration."
